Pupils of 5^ A – Primary School of Palazzuolo sul Senio (Florence)

ITALYItaly, officially the Italian Republic (Italian: Repubblica italiana), is a unitary parliamentary republic in Southern Europe.

To the north, it borders France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia along the Alps.

To the south, it consists of the entirety of the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, Sardinia – the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea –and many other smaller islands.

MONTE BIANCO

Monte Bianco (Italian), meaning "White Mountain", is the highest mountain in the Alps, Western Europe, and the European Union.

It rises 4,810.45 m (15,782 ft) above sea level

RIVER POThe Po is the longest river in Italy.

The river is long 652km (405mi) and flows through many important Italian cities, including Torino, Pavia, Piacenza and Ferrara.

It crosses the Padan Plain on its way to the Adriatic Sea.

Lake Garda (Italian: Lago di Garda or Benaco) is the largest lake in Italy.

It is a popular holiday location and is located in Northern Italy

VOLCANOESMount Etna is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily.

It is the tallest active volcano in Europe (3.329mt – 10.922ft)

Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano in the Gulf of Naples.

It is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

ITALIAN CITIES

Roma is the capital of Italy.

In Italy, there are many other beautiful and historic cities like Firenze, Bologna, Venezia, Napoli, and so on.

TOSCANA

Tuscany is our region.

The regional capital is Florence (Firenze).

Tuscany is known for its landscapes, traditions, history, artistic legacy and its permanent influence on high culture.

It is regarded as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and has been home to many figures influential in the history of art and science.
