DESCRIPTION

In 1952, the Iowa State University Fire Service Extension began researching the application of water in fire fighting. They worked closely with researchers in other countries. The report provides a rate-of-flow formula for fire control that emerged from this research. Keith Royer and Floyd W. (Bill) Nelson are the authors.Iowa State University, Engineering Extension, Bulletin no. 18Two films produced by the ISU Fire Service Extension provide information directly related to the use of water for firefighting - they can be seen on the Special Collections Department's YouTube channel:Nozzelman: Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBd9i2bQmaQ)Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbMWNf9Eq7c)Coordinated Fire Attack: Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqJwjxcaHNI)Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-SJyBLJbUo)Part 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wObB_QAvbS0)
