Location of the sound on the musical scale and is determined by the tension applied to the tone-producing mechanism – the vocal chords

Melody patterns– rhythm and swing of your phrases and sentences

COMMON VOICE QUALITIES

NORMAL•Speaking naturally •Showing little or no emotion

BREATHY•Creating an atmosphere of secrecy and

FULL•Also known as the orotund or round

mouth quality•Formal and dignified

CHESTY•Deep hollow voice as if coming from a

deep and empty cave

THIN•High-pitched showing old-age, extreme

fatigue or weakening or even extreme excitement

LOUDNESS OR INTENSITY

Effect of sound on the ear Caused by the force of the expiratory

air stream and the efficient use of the resonators, not by the constriction of the throat

DEGREE

The amount of force applied so that in whispering only a low degree of force is used whereas in shouting, a high degree of force is applied
