positions really well.

VERSATILE

Adjective: not final; still not sureMy schedule for 7th grade is still tentative because I’m not

sure if I’ll take band or choir. I’ll decide later.

TENTATIVE

Verb: to replace with something elseWe’re going to substitute milk chocolate for dark chocolate

in the recipe because it tastes better.

SUBSTITUTE

Verb: to put it back in its original conditionWe’re going to restore the old table by sanding it down and

re-staining it.

RESTORE

Verb: to keep going and don’t give upYou have to persevere and keep going. You can do it!

PERSEVERE

Noun: the final result (think of “cause and effect”)One effect of stress is that you can get lots of headaches.

EFFECT

Verb: to change so that you fit in with something newSometimes it’s hard to adapt to a new school, but get
