FOREWORD

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam isthe most beloved to Allah and the most superior of all theProphets. It is for this very reason that Allah has stated:

Benefits of Salat and Salam

Hereunder are some of the benefits one will receive throughreciting salat and salam:

1. Allah will send ten mercies upon the one who recites salatonce upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam.

2. Allah will forgive his ten sins.3. Allah will raise his rank ten times.4. Allah will grant him ten rewards.5. The reciting of salat before du‘aa brings hope of its

acceptance.6. It will bring intercession of Rasool sallallahu alayhi

Ubay Ibne Ka‘ab radhiyallahu anhu reports that “I asked, ‘ORasoolullah, I would like to recite much salat upon you, howmuch of the time that I have set aside for du‘aa shall I use forit?’ Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied ‘As much asyou wish.’ I said, ‘Then I shall use one quarter thereof.’Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, ‘It is as you wish,and if you increase beyond that it shall be even better for you.’I said, ‘In that case I shall make it a half of the time.’Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, ‘It is as you wish,and if you increase beyond that it shall be better for you.’ Isaid, ‘I shall make it two-thirds of my time.’ Rasoolullahsallallahu alayhi wasallam replied, ‘It is as you wish, and if youincrease beyond that it shall be even better for you’. I said, ‘ORasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam, I make the intentionnow that I shall set aside all the time of du‘aa for salat uponyou.’ Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied, ‘In thatcase all your worries shall be removed and your sins shall beforgiven’.”

When to Recite

1. If possible, recite daily.

2. Every Friday.

3. Take it with you to Madeenah Munawwarah and recitedaily as often as possible.

Forty Ahaadeeth on Salat and Salam

There are numerous compilations of salat and salam which ourrespected elders, ulamaa and saints used to recite. In thisbooklet we intend to reproduce (from Shaykhul HadeethMaulana Muhammad Zakariyyaa’s Virtues of Salat alanNabee) forty salat and salam which Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwirahmatullahi alayh has obtained from authentic sources ofHadeeth. Twenty five deals with salat and fifteen refer tosalam. Thus making it a collection of forty Ahaadeeth.

In a Hadeeth Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam hassaid,“Whoever conveys forty Ahaadeeth regarding religiousaffairs to my Ummah, Allah will raise him among the ranks ofthe ulamaa on the Day of Qiyaamah and I shall be anintercessor on his behalf.”

The recitation of salat and salam is a commanded act of Allahand insha’allah the reward will be doubled in this case i.e. forthe salat itself and also for conveying the forty Ahaadeeth.
