• You form equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by the same nonzero number.

• Write two equivalent fractions for the following fraction:

Simplest Form

• To write a fraction in simplest form, divide both the numerator and the denominator by the GCF.

• Write the following fraction in its simplest form:

27/72

Improper Fractions

• An improper fraction has a numerator greater than or equal to its denominator.

• Write the following improper fraction as a mixed number:

22/5

Mixed Numbers

• A mixed number shows the sum of a whole number and a fraction.

• Write the following mixed number as an improper fraction:

Decimals to fractions

• To express a decimal as a fraction, say it, write it, reduce it.

Fractions to decimals

• To write a fraction as a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator. Write a bar over the digits that repeat.
