• Assume the individual does not know UCM is tobacco free, or does not understand the policy.
• Approach with the goal of helping them be compliant in the future.
• Be friendly. Smile. • Use the opportunity to engage with the community.
– Politely Ask—(After introductions) Did you know UCM is now a tobacco free campus?
– Respectfully Teach—Tobacco use is allowed in personal vehicles or on public right of ways.
– Tell—Help the Tobacco Procedures Committee follow up by reporting a hot spot at www.ucmo.edu/tobaccoreport

Qualitative Data
• Since Fall 2013, 59 students and employees have utilized tobacco cessation services and nicotine replacement therapy provided at no cost to them through VSAP. Example success stories:
– 18 year old student, smoking since 6th/7th grade, had already cut down before coming into VSAP. With the assistance of coaching and 2mg nicotine replacement lozenges, he quit smoking completely within a month.
– 53 year old woman, smoking for 40 years cut down to about 7 cigarettes per day and only two cigarettes are during the work day.
– 57 year old man, smoking for 40-45 years cut down from two packs a day to about 10 cigarettes a day and is going to start patches soon to finally reach his goal of being smoke-free.

Before reading this question I did not know that UCM is a tobacco free campus.
I like the fact that UCM is tobacco free AND this increased my desire to attend UCM.
