Different uses of Photography

Advertising
Photography is used in advertising because it is something the consumer can see and judge the
product for that. For example if they were driving past a billboard then they wouldn’t have time to
read a lot of information whereas a picture is much more convenient.
Fashion
Photography is used in fashion so fashion magazines and websites can use them to show consumers what the products look like. One of the most well known
fashion photographers is Alice Hawkins, who’s work can be found in magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair.
Seeing the products allow the consumer to look at the product and decide if they like it.
Music
Photography is used in music so they can be added to various media outlets such as magazines, music websites and the musicians social media. Well-known music photographers include people such as Shirlaine Forrest who has been shooting musicians for 17
years and her pictures have been featured in The Rolling Stone, The Guardian and The New York Times.
Landscape
Landscape photography is typically used to capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbance of landscapes. A well-known landscape photographer goes by the name Sebastiao Salgado who has captured nature from all around the
world.
Portrait
Portrait photography is used to capture the personality of the subject by using effective, lighting, backdrops and poses. Well-known portrait photographers include Annie Leibovitz and Steve McCurry who use portrait photography in their
portfolios. Portraits are normally used in special occasions, such as weddings and school events.
Macro
Macro photography is close-up photography of usually very small subjects to make the subject in the photography look greater than life size. Macro photography is usually used to take pictures of things such as; insects, flowers and even drops of water. Well-known macro
photographers include Krasimir Matarov who is an award winning photographer who specializes in capturing macro photographs of nature and wildlife.
