How to Use Twitter: Jargon Cont
• Direct Message or DM: A 140-character message between two people, which is private. You are given the option to accept a DM from all Twitter users or from just the users you are following. You can only DM a Twitter user who is already following you.
• Hashtag or #: A way to identify a message on a topic being talked about. By using hashtags, you are enabling other users to find your tweets, based on a topic you chose. If you click on a hashtag, you can see all the tweets that mention it from any twitter user. Do not put spaces in the hastag.
Example: Winter has come, time to use the ice melt! #icemelt
• Follow: The user’s tweets will show up in your feed and you can send direct messages to them.
