Understanding Turnitin• What is Turnitin?

• Why do we use Turnitin?

• How does Turnitin work?

– Compares your paper to millions of sources in its repository

– Results in an Originality Report with an originality percentage

– You must hand in a printed copy of the Originality Report with your assignment

– Submit your assignment early so Turnitin has time to compile the report (can take anywhere from 15 minutes – 2 days)

pop up:

Once your paper is successfully submitted, you will receive an email notification.

To see if your Originality Report is ready, go back to the Turnitin folder in the Course Documents section

and click on View/Complete.

After you click on the print/download icon ( )

a dialog box will open:

If you are using a browser with pop-up blockers installed, you will have to temporarily disable the pop-up blocker and click on

the print/download icon again for this box to appear.

After a few seconds, the dialog box will change to tell you the download is ready:

Click on the link, and an Adobe dialog box will open. Leave the bubble set to “Open with,”

and click OK to open the Originality Report.
