Tudor Bradatanage: 21, from Botosani, studies European Studies, wants to become a film director.

All the people we talked to, knew about Rosia Montana project; All of them were conscious of the risks implied. I was impressed by the people who showed us supprt.

Alexandru Moldovan, Age: 25, from Tg. Mures, program coordinator at PATRIR

For me, the new experience of talking to people was a great success.I spoke with lots of people, although the discussions were short. The majority of them were old people who

didn’t agree under no circumstances with the mining project. Agriculture is the main income source for them, and if the environment gets more polluted than it is, production will

decrease.

Nae Chiper, age 30, from

Focsani, jurist

Inspite of the unfavorable weather, the contacts with the people we met on our way to Turda showed their interest regarding Rosia Montana problem and their opposition to the project.

Sorana Olaru Zainescu, age 25, from Cluj-Napoca, assisting teacher at Faculty of Political Science, department of Journalism

I spoke to the lady who had just moved to Mihai Viteazu. She was from Gura Cornei (village near Rosia Montana). She was against the project, but the compny put great pressure on her.She sold her house and land for 700 million lei. This is the typical scenario used by the company: They measure over and over again the lands, they make new and new offers, meanwhile the preassure on people gets higher and higher and eventually they decide to sell their houses, as being near the road they think that they are the first affected.

Youngsters, by age and soul (look at the Canadian woman of 65), reached our first destination standing against bad weather and appropriating the group’s principles. Our girls were describing the tiredness they felt, but it was nothing compared to the joy we felt when we saw that nobody abandoned and that no major problem interfered. So here is what I was thinking: “the desire sustained by will shows its effect!”

Ioana Prunean, age 24, from Cluj, operator at

the Institute of Statistics in Cluj

Crina Resteman, age 24, from Satu-Mare, program coordinator PATRIRPeople are not being listened to when great decisions regarding their community are made. And as well they didn’t get used to the implication in the process of taking decisions, and I’m referring here to the fingertips left by the communist regime when you couldn’t express yourself, you only had to do what you were ordered. In my opinion, what they mostly need now is a leader to mobilize them efficiently, to get them off this indifference mood.
