Definition Scalene Triangle Isosceles Triangle Equilateral Triangle

A perimeter is the distance around a polygon. Each polygon has an equation to find the perimeter.

To find the perimeter of any triangle, you add up the distance around each side.

For the case of the triangle to the right, the perimeter of the triangle would be found following these steps:

A + B +C = Perimeter of Triangle P

If:A = 5ftB = 4ftC = 9ft

The perimeter would be 5+4+9 = 18 feet

Find the Perimeter of Triangle Q:

Perimeter of Triangle Q =

A+B+C

17 + 9 + 17 =

Answer: _______ Feet

A = 17ft

B = 9ft

C = 17ft

Triangle A is made up of side A, side B, and side C. Side A = 10in; Side B = 3in; Side C = 23in

The circumference of a circle is the distance around a circle.

A review on how to find the circumference of a circle can be found here.

Watch the video review and continue to the next slide to complete practice problems.

Circle A has a diameter of 22cm. Use 3.14 for pi. To find the Circumference, use the equation:

Circumference = πD = (3.14)(22) = ______ cm.

The lake in a neighborhood is in the shape of a circle. Brittany wants to walk around the lake in her neighborhood, but would like to track the distance that she walks. She knows that the gazebo in the center of the lake is 50meters from the outer edge of the lake (this would be the radius). Look at the diagram to the right, and help Brittany find the distance around the lake using your knowledge about circumference. C = 2πrC = 2 π (50)C = _____meters

Brittany walks ____ meters around the lake.

50m

The perimeter of quadrilaterals is the sum of the lengths of each side

The perimeter of a square is 4*L , where L is the length of a side

The perimeter of a rectangle is 2(L) + 2(H), where L is the length and H is the height.

Farmer brown wants to put a fence around his yard, that is in the shape of a quadrilateral. He needs to buy enough fence to surround the yard. Use your knowledge of perimeter to help farmer brown purchase the correct amount of fence, given the information below and the diagram at the right:Two sides of farmer brown’s yard is 20yards. Two sides of farmer brown’s yard is 72 yards. How much yards of fence does farmer brown need to buy?______ yards

20yrds.

72 yrds.

Test your knowledge! Record your solutions on a piece of paper

(one per group) and turn it in to me after completion.
