Newsletter For All Treasurers In The
Mighty Mighty Florida District
Official Newsletter of the Florida District of Key Club International’s District Treasurer
Treasurers of the Mighty Mighty Florida District, The vision of Key Club International is to
develop competent, capable, and caring leaders
through the vehicle of service. Over 250,000 high
school students are leading, serving, and caring by
being servant leaders in their community. The more
service we perform, the more we grow. Make sure
in everything you do in Key Club that your primary
focus is to SERVE others. As Governor René Miller
says, we are servant leaders. So make sure every
time you raise funds for DCON, hold a project for
SNAP, or simply fundraise for your favorite
organization, your goal is to serve.
Yours in Service,
Micki Hall

• Record income/expenses and submit to Secretary for the use of Pride Reports • Collect, count, and store money, as the financial officer, money-related matters are your
responsibility

meeting or orientation about the purpose and values of dues. Show them the dues tutorial video.
Every month there will be a new tip that will help you as treasurer, but before I can start giving you tips you must know all of your duties! So here you will find everything from
managing dues to being a good immediate-past. I hope this helps if you were a little confused as to exactly what treasurers do.
August, 2010
Carnival Night o A hall or auditorium can be decorated to suit the theme of the carnival. You can offer a
range of activities, such as a cakewalk and weight guessing. Have each of your clubs at your school run of booth with a game each, and all of the money collected goes towards the organization of your choice.
Hairy leg contest o Contestant’s legs are photographed and the pictures are fastened to glass jars. One vote
costs a quarter, and the money is placed right in the jar. The jar with the most quarters wins, and the contestant has to shave their leg.
Movie Night o Hold a movie night at one of your club officer’s houses and charge $10 admission.
Pancake Breakfast o Fun, easy to organize, and an excellent project to hold with your Kiwanis. Invite everyone
from your club, school, and Kiwanis club and charge $5 admission.
Miracle Mile of Quarters o This is an easy project to do on a daily basis in a high school setting or for a district
project/district convention. Determine the charity or receiver of funds and advertise this well. Make "paper quarters," and for every $.25 donated, post a paper quarter, perhaps by beginning in the lunchroom or corridor. Determine a goal and end date.
Fundrais ing
Fundraising Ideas and Projects Because all clubs need to start fundraising for something! Whether it is a really cool
trip your club is making to the zoo for a service project, District Convention 2011, or to donate to your favorite organization! Every month there will be new fundraising ideas
that can raise a lot of funds and are simple to put on.
Did you know….? At the 2010 Key Club International Convention, all Key Clubbers who participated in the Friend-A-Gorilla Walk
collectively raised $13,769? That shows how much Key Club can fundraise just from a simple walk!

Organization of the month:
It was the unthinkable earthquake that struck Haitian children that inspired creator Jasmine LaCoursiere to launch Wishing Cup® Co., a non-profit company driven by community service through art to benefit orphans and children in distress. The funds received through cup sales go directly to Chances for Children orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti and Davis Lar orphanage in Brazil. To get your club involved, visit the website or email Jasmine at jasmine@wishingcup.com.
