• Specific Criminal Code for traffic offenses with outlined penalties. (i.e. fines, incarceration, mandatory re-education, suspension of driving privileges)

• Specific training of Police in the enforcement of traffic violations and knowledge of traffic laws.

• Technological equipment to monitor and enforce traffic regulations (cameras and radar)

• There are many different models for Police training.

• They all have one common factor a thorough knowledge of the Traffic Code and the offenses and violations associated with the code.

• A Public commitment to enforce the penalties associated with traffic offenses.

Technology

• Are just the tools to assist Police in the enforcement of traffic regulations.

• Radar for speed enforcement• Cameras at intersections and dangerous

sections of road ways to identify violators and promote safety

• Dash Cams – Cameras mounted in police cars to capture evidence of violations, prevent corruption and promote officer safety.

EDUCATION

• Starts with the beginner driver and requires not only written and practical exams but testing before a license is issued.

• A basic sense of watching out for the other guy – Defensive Driving.

• The education courses cannot be a rubber stamp but must be uniform and regulated so that everyone learns to drive the same way.

• Periodic retesting for renewal of a drivers license.
