Cold Call

Anatomical Position

• Position of body that is assumed when using directional terms.– Reference frame– Left or right?

Caudal vs. Cranial

AKA?

Axial vs. Appendicular

Four-legged Animals

• Anterior and Posterior have a different meaning!

• Anterior- towards head• Posterior- towards tail

Body Planes

Visible Human Project

Sliced up like lunch meat for science! CAT scans + MRI’s

Fold a piece of paper into quarters; each will represent a type of body plane.

-Record: title of plane, definition, illustration

4 Types:

1.Sagittal(median, mid-, para-)

2.Transverse3.Frontal

(coronal, “crown”)

4.Oblique

-Record: title of plane, definition, illustration
