Opportunities:Seatrade workshop and educational for executives of leading cruise liner corporates.Seatrade exhibition.Focused presentation session at Seatrade Miami.Establishment of an incentive fund.Appointment of a specialist representative to engage major cruise liners and to refine strategy.CIOA membership recruitment of all the cruise stakeholders of East Coast of Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.

Weaknesses :Level of promotion and packaging of the East Coast of Africa and Indian Ocean Islands as a cruise destination.Lack of multi-purpose cruise liner terminals.Retention of key countries as members of the CIOA.Ground handling services and shore excursions.

Threats:Perceptions of Africa particularly the issue of piracy.

3. Vision & MissionTo position the Southern & East Coast of

Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands as an attractive destination for cruise liner itineraries.

To create an enabling environment for the development of the Southern & East Coast of Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands as a destination for cruise liner itineraries.

4. Objectives To jointly promote and market the southern and

eastern seaboard of Africa and the southern Indian Ocean Islands as a destination for cruise itineraries;

To maintain a research and knowledge management system regarding port networks and other strategic information pertaining to cruise tourism;

To foster cooperation between the regions ports, government and cruise operators;

To encourage the development of cruise business in the region;

5. Objectives (cont.) To keep members of the latest developments in

this industry by attending cruise related conferences and joining relevant international bodies;

Ensuring that the regions tourism stakeholders get involved in/ participate in cruise tourism promotion;

Urge members to use PMAESA Ports as a base for cruise operations;

Provide a regional forum for an integrated and unified approach to cruise tourism.
