Francis Scott Keywas born on 8\1\1779. he later became a lawyer in georgetown. He didn't want war but war started. it was the war of 1812 when the americans were fighting for freedom from the british. during the war key's friend, dr. beanes, was captured. and that's where we begin.

this is Key negotiating the release of dr.beanes. he was allowed to negotiate because he was a lawyer. key couldn't go back to baltimore because he overheard the british's plans to attack.

in 1813 the british bombarded fort mchenry because the americans were fighting for freedom from the british. key was on a british ship when this happened.

this is a picture of key making the poem, the star spangled banner, because he was inspired by the strength of the flag. he saw that the flag was strong like our country should be. THe Flag is a symbol of america because it survived just like key wanted our country to be peaceful and survive. by the way, the year was 1813.

after key died, in 1931, president herbert hoover signed the star spangled banner and made it our national anthem.

One thing I've learned is that music can start out small and

become big.

This Person is a changemaker because:

1.he helped make a difference for our country by helping to stop british control

2. he was brave because crossed enemy lines3. the war got tough but he didn't run away

My Changemaker is connected to paul revere because they were both fighting

for freedom from the british.

a changemaker is someone who changes something they think is wrong.

a song of praise or gladness.

seeing something that makes you want to do something.

When you are free from something, like slavery.

this is a picture of the bombarding of fort mchenry. I drew it because it was when key wrote the poem.
