We all are water creatures

• We can survive a month without food

• We cant survive a week without water

It covers most of the earth,But only 2.5% is fresh water

WORLD WATER DAY – MARCH 22

Wastage of water in Daily use:

• One toilet flush uses 3 gallons of water• Shower for 10 mins – 50 gallons• A single load of laundry – 40 gallons• Brushing with tap running – 4 gallons• For a face wash – 1 gallon

If we brush with tap off - 0.25 gallons

Some facts:

• 4,000 children under the age of five die every day from preventable water-related diseases.

• 2.2 million children could be saved every year by investing in clean water and sanitation.

• Access to clean water can reduce deaths from water-related diseases by 21%.

• 50% of deaths from diarrheal diseases can be cut by washing hands with soap and water.

Water Conflict

• Water conflict is a term describing a conflict between countries, states etc over water resources.

• There were 1831 water conflicts over trans boundary basins from 1950–2000

• A comprehensive chronology of water-related conflicts is maintained by the Pacific Institute in their Water Conflict Chronology

Rough Idea about water harvesting in Bangalore:

• Total area of Bangalore – 741 km2 • Total population – 8.426 million• Annual average rainfall – 978 mm• If rain water harvesting is implemented fully

then – 724698 liters can be saved• On an average around 2 liters are saved for

family

We are thirsty

Our Water Resources are under pressure

Its time to give water
