Fleurieu Food Plus Wine Art Prize

The AUD10,000 Food plus Wine Art Prize, is a non-acquisitive painting prize, presented in the

McLaren Vale Visitor Centre and various regional wineries in South Australia.

Marion Coastal Walking Trail

The Marion Coastal Walking Trail is located in the Marion Coast Park which extends 7.2 km from

Marino in the north, to the Hallett Headland Reserve at Hallett Cove in the south.

Its environment is unique in the metropolitan area, with its rugged cliffs, small coves and a rocky coast.

It also features world famous geological formations at Hallett Cove, important sites of remnant coastal

vegetation, and the significant cultural presence of the Tjilbruke Dreaming.

Moana Sands Conservation Park

The park’s coastal sand dunes are very important in the cultural traditions of the Kaurna people who made their summer camp in the dunes next to Pedlar Creek. Many archaeological artefacts, including burial sites, hearths and shell middens – some dating back more

than 6000 years – have been found where the overlying sand has blown away.

 Paxton

Paxton cellar door allows visitors to taste and buy premium Paxton biodynamic wines in the

historic setting of the original Landcross Farm. Settled in the 1840s, Paxton’s Landcross Farm is a

significant historic site in the region.

The farm is dotted with buildings dating back to 1849 – including the original limestone and pug house,

blacksmith shop and quarters, and shearing shed, which now houses the Paxton cellar door. Visitors can enjoy a glass of wine with some cheese on the deck

(where the sheep yards were) while enjoying a spectacular view of the Willunga hills and parts of

McLaren Vale.

Moana Surf Lifesaving Club

Surf lifesaving is a big part of Australia’s history and lifestyle with most beach towns having an active club. An important part of Moana’s community, stop by the

club to watch a surf lifesaving event or buy an ice cream or fish and chips.

Kayaking

Onkaparinga River estuary and wetlands are a good choice for a leisurely kayaking session. There is

a barbeque area and public toilets at the River Road entrance of the Onkaparinga River Recreation Park

so you can spend a few hours there.
