He was flying along, admiring the clouds,.whena black speck showed in the sky. It was a hungryhawk.

"Oh, please. I 'm really a boy," chirped Wart."Merl in changed me with his wonderful magic."

Wart sat down on a tree limb, and gavea puzzled chirp. "What's a Wizards'Duel?" he wondered.

Merlin answered him. "Madam Mimand I will change ourselves to differentthings in order to destroy each other."

Wart gulped with dismay. What ever could poor Merlin change to now to

Merlin changed into a tinYgerm.

In a flash the dragon brokeout all over in a rash of greatpurple spots.

Anyone sick with PurPlePox had to stay in bed for twowhole weeks.

And so Merlin clearlY wasthe winner of the Wizards'Duel.

Quickly Merlin changed himself and Wart backinto people.

"Sir," Wart asked him af ter they had put

Madam Mim to bed, "how did you ever learn suchpowerful wizardry?"

"When' I was a boy," answered Merlin, "what-
