Computer Security

• Threats– Via email – still mainly phishing– When surfing - trojans

• Tools– for XP systems I no longer recommend AVG

and Windows Defender.– AVG 2012 is too intrusive for systems which,

typically, do not have a large amount of RAM

• My recommendation, for all systems, is Microsoft Security Essentials

• I’ve used it since I talked to you about it, 18 months ago, in July last year.

• It limits itself to using no more than 50% of the computer power.
