The Superfrog ISBI

Chapter Twelve: In Comes Katy

Welcome to chapter twelve of my ISBI! Sketch clearly thinks you're insane for joining us again.

Last time, there was violin playing, scary tantrum faces (thanks, Duck!), lots of Knight spam, aspiration failure, brothers and sisters generally behaving like brothers and sisters, birthdays and questionable fashion choices. That's when the Reaper came and took Leo, and his flour-sack baby of fun.

Let's get back to this chapter, now →

We rejoin the family to find the generation outside, playing catch. It's the middle of the night, they have school in the morning, but catch is way more important.

Goblin's still upset Leo is gone.

Also, the plot behind Duck isn't missing a tombstone, that's just set up for Vyn. Prepared in advance, just because it was convenient.

The game ended when Duck got stinky.

But it still wasn't time for bed.

Vyn was also up and about, joining in with yet another trend of stink. She got into a stomping match with Goblin over who got to use the bathroom first.

She lost.

Duck took a bath while Knight and Goblin decided it was bedtime. Even then, Duck didn't call it a night.

It was time for kareoke!

Did I mention I adore Duck?

Still, everyone somehow makes it to breakfast in time – though all of the kids were late to school as a result.

Family breakfasts with the Supers – sloppy eating, light conversation, and no dress code.

That evening, fun is back in session after homework is done. Seriously, it takes forever for Sketch to help each kid with their homework.

Anyway, Knight decided he was going to start a fight with Goblin. Not the wisest idea, but the only weapons allowed were water balloons. It's for the best!

The water fight eventually turns into hanging out on the front lawn.

“I'm so glad we're best friends, Goblin!”

“Me, too!”

Duck misses out on the fun, because he's playing the violin. Then again, maybe that is fun.

It's also the first time I've ever seen Duck use the violin. But he's quite adorable when he does.

The adults dance with the kids all the time. At first I thought it was sweet, but now I'm a tad confused.

Why do they all dance so much? Maybe Goopy is providing a funky beat.

Time flies, and pretty soon, it's the following afternoon. Of course, that means it's time for the musical number.

Vyn and Goblin do look like they're performing a duet, though Vyn's number looks like it's a rock song, while Goblin's is classical or something. Even with the catsuit/jumpsuit.

Duck brought home the daughter of one of the sim bin sims I've been playing in the 'hood – this is Katy Gavigan.

She seems to really enjoy the company of Duck and Knight, which is nice to see. She'll probably grow up with them.

Duck and Katy quickly launch into a game of cops and robbers.

I love watching the sims play cops and robbers, their facial expressions are great and the game is always fun to watch.

“Katy! You've turned to the side of evil!”

“Haha! I have indeed!”

“Quickly, Duck! Call an ambulance, I'm dying!”

“But you're evil! How can I save you when you've tried to kill me so many times in the past?”

“Just do it! Or it'll be too late!”

“What about this healing potion!”

(I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, healing potion made an appearance in all of the imaginary games I played with my brother. Near death experience? Totally curable with healing potion!)

“I hear police sirens, I must go!”

“Wait! Katy! You never thanked me!”

I could go on and on and on. But I won't fill this update with the adventures of Duck and Katy (though I do think that would make an awesome interlude or something).

Goblin pulls great for-my-namesake faces when playing the violin. It's amusing.

I don't regret buying the violin at all.

“Katy and I are leaving as it's so late and way past bedtime.”

I think it's sweet when a parent comes to pick up their children. It doesn't seem to happen a lot in my game, but Katy's Dad, Nathan, showed up this time.

Duck just watched her go.

“I'll never understand why playtime has to end.”

Me either, Duck.

After homework, Sketch started dancing with Duck again. Like she does all the time.

“Did I see my little boy playing with a pretty girl today?”

“Muuum. Not cool.”

Goopy then got home from work. I have no idea what he does anymore, or how he managed to get promoted, but he gets to wear this fancy suit!

I miss his mime outfit.

Instead of having breakfast the next morning, Vyn gets in the zone with the family guitar, while Knight dances to it.

An interesting alternative to breakfast.

Sketch and Goopy, meanwhile, talk and dance with Goblin and Duck outside, trying to make sure the kids are on time for school today.

They rarely make it without having to run or grab a lift off Goopy, but this morning seemed to be going better.

Sketch and Goopy even had time to embarrass their kids before the bus had to go.

A short while later, Goblin brings home Katy Gavigan, the new teenager. She grew up when I last played their house – in between the bus leaving in the morning and the bus arriving in the afternoon, apparently.

Goblin didn't seem to like Katy much, “Her fashion sense is questionable!”

Says the girl in a leopard print jumpsuit.

Knight then burst into the house with the highest grade he can get.

“Look! Look! Be impressed!”

Goopy is still in his suit, meaning he hasn't bathed or slept since he got in from work last night. Yet he still finds enthusiasm for Knight's grade.

Like I said, Goopy is awesome.

Just outside the room where Knight is cheering, I find Duck wearing a frown. I'm not sure why.

He's adorable when he's sad, though. Heck, he's adorable all of the time.

Maybe he was upset because his head was about to explode...

...while Knight stands behind him, trying to talk to him.

“Look, Duck, I know you're in a difficult position right now, but how about some rock, paper, scissors?”

Duck grew into a knowledge sim, with a fairly decent pick of clothes – a denim jacket and dark maxis jeans. I consider this to be a better choice than a leopard jumpsuit, but that's just me.

He looks kind of rebellious. And kind of like Goopy.

After that, the front lawn becomes alive with activity.

Knight decides to prove he can stand on his head.

“Woo! That's brilliant!”

“And it didn't even mess up my faux hawk!”

And the teenagers are hanging out in a very teenager way. Vyn's trying to prove she's still young and hip by hanging with them.

For the most part, the kids let her join them, which is awesome.

Duck's sexuality was randomised with ACR, and he proved that he's rolled as straight by heartfarting Katy. Hmm.

Goblin seems to approve, “He thinks she hot? I want to be his friend some more!”

Vyn just agreed, “If Goblin's doing it, it must be cool.”

I'm wondering if this is the start of something. I mean, I'm hoping it's just a long and happy friendship. But with ACR, and Duck being completely uncontrollable...

In other news, I don't think my neighbourhood is doomed. Everyone else's lots seem to be functioning okay, so I'm assuming that it's just the Super lot. I'll be moving them into a new lot when the next Torch Holder is old enough to take charge.

As night fell, this cat wandered by – his name is Moonshine.

That's a rather strange name for a cat.

Knight decided to spend the evening learning how to catch a ball. Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen him catch it.

He also looks rather mean with a baseball. Maybe it's just this generation that can pull fake-mean faces.

It's a good thing it's a Friday, because the teens hang out on the lawn until it's Saturday.

Vyn was also there, too. But she didn't sit with the group for some reason.

Goopy's glowing, and wearing pink shorts that match his guitar. I honestly don't know how he does it, but Goopy just keeps getting more awesome!

Six pm rolls around, and Vyn's thumbnail suddenly disappears.

That can mean only one thing...

“VYN SCOTT-”

“You have a bit of an exhaust problem there, Death.”

“I DO NOT HAVE AN EXHAUST PROBLEM.”

“Then are your robes on fire?”

“NO, MY ROBES ARE NOT ON FIRE! GAH, STOP DISTRACTING ME.”

“Sorry.”

“VYN SCOTT, AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS HOURGLASS-”

“That's so cool! I want to touch it!”

“NOBODY BUT ME TOUCHES THE HOURGLASS, IS THAT UNDERSTOOD? IT'S MINE! WELL, IT'S YOURS, BUT IT'S MY PROPERTY!”

“YOU KNOW WHAT? FORGET ABOUT SCARY REAPING SPEECHES ABOUT HOW YOUR TIME IS UP. JUST GET OUT OF THIS REALM, OKAY?”

“Aw man. This sucks.”

“SO DOES THE FACT THAT NO DEATH I SHOW UP TO EVER GOES AS PLANNED. GET MOVING.”

Rest in peace, Vyn Scott.

“Hey guys, come see! There's a new grave in the back garden!”

Yeah, no one really noticed Vyn passing away, which is sad.

Apparently, Duck is much too busy to notice his Adopted Grandmother just died.

“Hey Katy, you're pretty cute...”

Duck, NO. No star-crossed lovers or anything. No! I won't allow it!

“Congratulations on being cute, Katy!”

“Thanks, Duck!”

It doesn't look like I'll have much of a say in how this turns out.

Later on, Sketch and Goopy have abandoned the hot tub, and the teens decide to relax in it. Of course, Katy still hadn't left, and got to join in with the fun.

“Um, Duck, don't you think you should hot tub in the water?”

“Everyone knows hot tubbing is much more fun when you're neither sitting in the right place or under the water.”

Of course. It's a fact.

“How do I sound, Mum?”

“Hold that thought, sweetheart.”

“AAAH! VAMSI GHOST!”

“Hello, Sketch!”

Vamsi is the only ghost who bothers to scare people nowadays. Every other ghost is pretty peaceful.

And Vamsi will scare anyone. I'm not sure why, really.

Knight seems confused in this picture, “Goblin, what are you screaming at? There's no one there!”

With the teenagers way too busy rebelling and hanging out with Katy, Knight has to amuse himself.

He's the only person I've ever seen use the swimming pool in the back garden.

He doesn't even seem to care about the fact it's winter. Of course, his behaviour started a trend.

“So let me get this straight,” Goopy said, “we all went swimming last night, except from Goblin?”

“Yep.”

“And Katy's here for breakfast because...?”

“Because she loves Duck!” Goblin announced.

Well, not quite 'love'. But Duck and Katy spend a lot of time together, flirting, hanging out or glitching up the hot tub.

Both Goopy and Sketch have maxed music and dance, which is impressive – I've put no work into getting them that way.

I still insist a duet between a guitar and a violin sounds strange.

Anyway, we interrupt everything to bring you Knight's birthday.

Complete with couch-jumping. I believe that's a result of red aspiration.

“It's my birthday! Yay!”

Behold! The final sparkles of the update.

If it wasn't clear before, it's clear now – Knight is a lot different to his siblings genetically.

Though any fashion taste he possessed has flown south for the winter, obviously. Along with his downtown party gear, he's wearing sandals with socks, courtesy of Maxis.

He's also a popularity sim. He's also awesome.

Before we go, have some info for the heir poll -->

Goblin SuperKnowledge2/8/4/6/7

Goblin is known for her mean expressions, which must be for her namesake, because she's actually super-nice. She's a talented singer,

violin player and guitarist, and doesn't care what the latest trend is, she's not following it.

Duck SuperKnowledge2/8/4/6/7

Duck is almost a complete clone of his older sister, but that doesn't mean they're alike. While he's also got the creative genes, Duck prefers rebelling to playing the violin – and making my life much

harder by falling for a playable, Katy Gavigan.

Knight SuperPopularity2/7/10/5/7

Knight got all of his parent's awesomeness and then some. He's a lot different to his older siblings, but he also has the creative genes. Any fashion sense he had as a child quickly disappeared when he grew

up, but he still has a faux hawk.

“All of my kids are insane.”

Vote for whoever you want, for whatever reason you want, I won't judge you. Plus, I don't mind who wins, as I truly love all three of the kids.
