The Purpose of the Writing Center

Tutoring is a free service offered by Purdue North Central, in coordination with the English department to help students with their writing for all areas.

A quiet area to work and study

Available Hours: Mondays: 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Tuesdays: 9:30 A.M.-4:00 P.M.

Wednesdays: 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Thursdays: 9:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Fridays: 9:00 A.M.- 2:00 P.M.

Writing Center tutors can help with all phases of the writing

process pre-writing help with brainstorming a topic overcome writer’s block choose/narrow topics develop/focus a thesis organize the paper’s content

Revising/Editing add, cut, rearrange sections respond to comments made by your

Computer Tips get help using the computer to word process your papers

help with formatting papers, using headers and footers, etc.

Remember our tutors are not trained computer technicians, so if you have any technical questions, please use the main computer lab

After you arrive at the Writing Center, you will be asked to fill out some paperwork listing your name and major, etc. and what you would like to work on with one of our tutors.

Writing Center Tips come in early and often during the

semester the Writing Center is not a one-stop fix-it shop come prepared with any assignment sheets and

drafts of your paper bring realistic expectations come with an open mind remember, the tutors are PNC students just like

you full time and part time English faculty members
