Partnerships in Housing −

It Takes Two to Tango

The Province’s role in housing can be summed up as follows:

To provide safe, accessible affordable housing for those who cannot afford it or access it in the market; and

To create an environment that encourages the construction of all housing types across the province.

A Strong Foundation - The Housing Strategy for Saskatchewan is an eight-year plan that is built on community, industry, and government partnerships.

The Strategy, which leverages partnerships, is producing results.

In 2012, total housing starts in Saskatchewan reached 9,968 – more starts in one year than in any year since the 1970s.

Secondary Suite Program

Owner’s quote: The Secondary Suite Program enabled me to build a high quality basement suite for my young tenants. The Grant assisted in lowering the costs to make not only my constructions costs more affordable, but also bringing a much needed lower-priced rental suite to the market. In partnering with Allman Homes & Realty Ltd., the property added value not only to my neighbours and neighbourhood, but to my community as well. Once again, many thanks!” Ranjit Singh, Director, ST Home Buyers Ltd.

The Encouraging Community Housing Options Program (ECHO) helps municipalities meet housing needs and sustain population and economic growth – two foundational elements of the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth.
