The proud is about a wacky African American family. a 14 year old girl has to deal with her family especially her dad who can sometimes be overprotective which can be embarrassing at times. As well as dealing with her overprotective family she also has to deal with being a teenager, sorting out her school, friends and even boy troubles! But in the end Penny always has her friends and family to support her.

The proud family will first begin with an opening bit, which focuses on the story that will be happening throughout the episode little preview which will last about around a minute, and then the then the theme song will begin. Then it will go back to the story that happened in the beginning. The situation normally focuses around penny and what goes on around her, with her family and friends.
The language style used in The Proud family is mainly slang, I think the audience is largely targeted to African Americans. they use a lot of slang words and they tone sounds very chilled and ‘ghetto'. They often have running gags in most episode “Oscar's "rivalry" with the talking baby” and the famous catchphrase that the dad uses when he cant deal with penny, “TRUDAAAAAY!”
