Agenda

21st Century Behavior

The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient

for tomorrow. - William Pollard

Our biggest challenge is..

The “Status Quo”

We can’t build the future by

perfecting the past!

Change is an opportunity to do something amazing.

Recent Reads

Change almost never fails because it is too early. It almost always fails because it is too late.

How many of you want to be a better educator than you are?

What have you changed &experimented with to get there?

CHANGE

This doesn’t mean throw

everything out!

Stop DoingContinue Doing

Consider or Begin Doing

INSTEAD THINK!

Working alone and thinking that you have nothing to learn about education.

How might my experience in education be used in helping this idea succeed.

INSTEAD THINK!

Pretending education technologywill eventually go away.

How can I show my students & colleagues that I am a life long learner?

INSTEAD THINK!

Waiting for administration to do something.

Leadership is everyone’s responsibility. Use your experience to form a committee, build plans & passionfor the new work/idea.

INSTEAD THINK!

Stereotyping students & families.

Educators have the power to influencethe path a student may be following.Students may become a mayor or a member of the Seal Team 6. Paths change when students & families are given a sense of support along the road to success.

INSTEAD THINK!

Ignoring student feedback aboutthe lessons and teaching they experience.

Ask students for feedback! Ask them how you could improve on yourteaching and communication with them.

Technology Added to Behavior

Technological change is not additive, it is ecological, it

changes everything. - Neil Postman

Advice

We need to have these THREE elements

of support in place?

ONE

Modelling

Educators are great at encouraging students to have a growth mindset

when learning.

Educators need to see themselves capable of learning and improving.

TWO

Create Space for New Ideas

Educators need to be able to try new things and

make mistakes.

THREE

Build Time for

Self-Reflection

We need to reflect upon any new experience and ask ourselves, what we have learned and how can we

make it better.
