TICKETS - SCHOOL CONCERT
Tickets for the school concert go on sale on Thursday afternoon 4 July at 4.00pm. There are 6
concerts, 3 for each cast, 2 evening and one matinee for each. We ask parents to refrain from
bringing small children to the concert as it is very difficult to keep them entertained for the
concert duration. We also ask that parents remain for the whole concert as it is very
entertaining and students and teachers across the school have worked extremely hard to
make it very enjoyable. Teachers will ensure children are cared for in their classroom while
they wait for the finale, which all students will participate in.
What you need to know:
which cast your child/ren are in- see list below. If unsure please check with the
classroom teacher before purchasing tickets.
each family can purchase up to 4 tickets (over all shows) in the first round of sales
if available, a second round offer to purchase additional tickets will be offered to
families starting on 29 July so get in early for the first round.
Principal’s Report
seats are numbered and ‘best seats available’ are automatically allocated when
booking
tickets can be spread across a couple of performances
tickets are $15pp
FPS students performing in the concert will be required to stay in holding rooms, so
will not need seating in the hall, as they will return for the finale. All students have an
opportunity to watch the performances at the dress rehearsals.

Once again we are using the services of Ticketebo and on Thursday 4 July at 4.00pm, if you
use the webpage below, it will take you to the ticketing website.
DANCE – Glen Street
I had the pleasure of attending one of the dance performances last week at Glen Street
Theatre, where our dancers in Ra and Chim Chim Cheree wowed the audience with their very
polished and absolutely wonderful dances. I was extremely proud to watch our Forestville
students and was thrilled to be part of this fabulous festival of dance provided by the Sydney
North Region. I am attending the concert on Friday and am very much looking forward to
seeing our boys dance group perform their ‘Basketball Beats’.

Principal’s Report
Again an enormous thank you to Vanessa Price and Nicole Amery. Tess McAllister and
Chris Williamson for their choreography and management of their dance groups and also
to Katy Costa for coordinating all 3 groups. I am incredibly proud of our performing arts
programs in the school.
GREAT WORK ALL ROUND
I have really enjoyed reading the student reports. It is wonderful to see the childrens’
efforts rewarded with substantial improvement and achievements. What is evident across
the school is the impact of our school’s focus of developing a positive Growth Mindset.
This is evident in comments noted by teachers about attitudes to learning, taking on new
challenges, and overcoming negative experiences to try again. I would like to thank and
commend the teachers on their work in writing these reports. The children will receive
their reports on Thursday to take home.
GROWTH MINDSET
Children’s Books that promote a growth mindset.
Salt in His Shoes
Michael feels the reason he isn’t very good at basketball is
because he’s short. His mother suggests he put salt in his
shoes and say a prayer to help him grow. But months go by
and he still isn’t any taller. Finally, while talking to his father,
Michael learns that being taller isn’t everything – it’s practice,
determination and giving your best that will that really make
the difference. And the rest of Michael Jordan’s story is
history…
What Do You Do With a Problem?
A young boy has a hypothetical problem and he doesn’t know
what to do with it. He’s scared of his problem, tries to hide
from it, and worries about his problem. Until one day, even
though he’s still afraid, the boy can’t take it anymore and
decides he must face his problem. He then discovers that his
problem wasn’t as bad as he had made it out to be and even
contains something special…opportunity.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
On behalf of the Forestville staff, I would like to extend our thanks to parents and carers
for their support this term and to the children for their earnest efforts. I do hope families
enjoy a restful break over the next two weeks, and we look forward to seeing the students
return to school for Term 3 on Tuesday July 23.
Thank you for your support,
Louisa Wellings

including sales twice per term and producing an Annual report at the AGM;

On Friday, 21 June it was a cold winter’s morning at Gosford Racecourse for the Sydney
North Cross Country. Six students from FPS ran in the 2km or 3km flat course.
It was tiring and sweat was dripping down our faces. We all tried our best and felt relief when
we crossed the finish line. Sadly no one moved on to the State competition, but we did
achieve some personal bests and showed great Forestville spirit.
