Born in Asia’s barren steppes, Temujin, the young chieftain, United the Mongol tribes, And took the name Genghis Khan

Genghis Khan was the great Leader of the Mongol people With an amazing cavalry and iron discipline, They conquered all who gave them trouble.

They were expert archers With arrows that surely killed They captured their captives but did not torture The Mongols were extremely skilled

Genghis established such an ordinance, That replaced tradition It enforced loyalty and sub ordinance And promised religious freedom.

After they conquered the cities, They’d leave their own administrators behind, And would let you live if You paid your taxes and were loyal and kind

After creating a great Asian empire, The Mongols aspired To know what lay north, in Europe, So on they went upon horse and stirrup.

Europe was feudalist and disorganized So the Mongols succeeded A Russian army tried to stop them, And was completely decimated.

When Genghis Khan died in 1277 The Mongol empire was extensive The power then went to his sons But Ogodei squandered the empire’s funds

Reminiscing about the past European victory, Ogodei sent the Mongols once again west Invading and pillaging Poland and Hungary But little did they know that this was their last.

European land was poor for grazing and wet weather weakened the bows Thus, the Mongols began withdrawing from Europe and continued for 100yrs more.
