TESSELLATION ON A FABRIC

How to make a simple print by repeating patterns

STEP 1 Draw a square on a paper (here 8cm x 8cm). Cut off a piece on one side and tape it on the opposite side.

STEP 2

Make a template of a contact paper. Try to be very exact when cutting the line. The inner part should stay whole, too.

STEP 3Draw straight lines on a cotton fabric. In this example the measurement of the squares is 8cm x 8cm.

STEP 4Place the template on every second square so that the corners of the original square fit on the ones drawn on the fabric. Add textile colour and let dry.

STEP 5Choose parts of your pattern you’d like to improve. Draw lines/dots on the inner part of the template and cut them off. Using other colour print the specifics on the fabric.

Iron your print when dry to make the pattern permanent. Use the print for a desired product.
