A personal timeline of educational technology

My name is Audrey Shiotsu I started school in 1960 in

Detroit I graduated from high school

in 1973 in Detroit I first went to college at

Wayne State University in 1973

When I finish my degree, I hope to become a Secondary Education Chemistry Teacher.

anything from ancient technology such as an abacus to modern tech such as a

scientific calculator that will enhance and help the student to learn about the subject being taught in school and life in a fun and engaging way. This includes devices such as computers, cell phones , Ipods/mp3 players,

and game systems.

The only electronic technology we had was the Television and the Record Player.

We would watch Captain Kangaroo for our morning recess sometimes. We were only in school for half a day.

Scientific Calculators

Calculators were over 300 dollars(I had to borrow my friends.)

Media equipment, 8mm Movie Camera

We used It to make mini documentaries. I liked it better than slide presentations in the 1970’s.

All Science Labs had the latest Technology.

Star Trek Technology

Apple I Pad Sci Fi becomes a reality.

Apple iPad

I want each student to have an iPad with their textbooks on it and for school work. It is very light and easy to carry around.

No Walls blocking the path to learningA place where students are free to be themselves.

Lack of interest in adding modern technology to the classroom.

Lack of money to pay for technology.

Lack of desire to learn how to use new technology
