Pet Protect Capstone Design Review13 October 2008

Handlers will travel to many events across the country in a recreational vehicle.

Typically, a traveling kennel will consist of six dogs and can be valued from $10k-100k.

It has been known for dogs to die from heat resulting from a power loss, costing the owner financial and emotional pain.

When there is a loss of power, this can lead to many problems.

HELP!!!

Introduction

Project Overview

RVs typically use shore power or generatorPower can often be lost which leads to bad things

No Air Conditioning Temperatures changes rapidly Maybe smoke from a fire if generator malfunctioning

Carbon Monoxide buildup from generator can seep into RVThis puts stress on the dog which can lead to lack of

performance or even death. This is a huge emotional and financial loss to the

owner/handler.

Traveling kennels typically consists of six dogs per handler.

These kennels are valued anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000.

This relates to thousands of dogs in attendance at the show.

This year’s winner, Uno, has stud fees estimated to be over $1000.

Technical Presentation

The following slides and videos go over the technical aspects of the project

They will discuss the operation and circuitry of each individual element of the project

Videos with demonstrations will be shown for those parts that can not be safely demonstrated live

These include a demonstration of all of our sensors

Power Loss Detection and Battery Backup

Temperature Monitoring

Smoke Detection

Summary/ConclusionWe were able to make the best of our summer break

and made good progress.

The Pet Protect is progressing well and is currently on time and under budget

It will be completed at this time within the full scope of its defined and agreed upon nature.
