TEACHING ENGLISH IN MOHÁCS

Pleasure and difficulties

• Teaching English 9 lessons per week in the Széchenyi primary school in Mohács

• Teaching English to children from the age of six to the age of twelve

I FOUND PLEASURE IN TEACHING

• My first task: memorizing the learners` names• My opinion about being a good teacher• My attitude towards the children whom I teach

• Teaching is a challenge because every age-group needs different teaching methods

• The hardest task is to teach first-year learners• Singing English songs• The importance of humour in solving problems

DIFFICULTIES THAT CAN HARDLY BE SOLVED

• The biggest problem is the terrible discipline of the pupils

• My task is to to find solutions in the near future to avoid shouting or giving bad grades

• I have to find out how to make the English language interesting and important to learn

THE BEST WORKING DAY I HAD IN MOHÁCS

• My first lesson with class 3A:

• Teaching the first ten numbers with the help of a funny say and the second ten numbers by playing with dominoes

• The second lesson with class 2A:

• Watching a cartoon to habituate them to the English pronunciation

• A nice feeling: I am part of their little society

The third lesson with class 4A:

• A lesson about Halloween:• reading about the story, learning the funny say Trick

or treat and playing a game

The fourth lesson with class 1A:

• Teaching the main colours and the first five numbers in a playful mode

• The importance of touch
