either mad or hasn't actual ly read any cit izen media. […] What 's

become ver y d i f f i cu l t i s us ing c i t i zen media to under stand what ' s actua l ly happening on the ground. As we a l l know, some of the repor ts f rom both camps in the South Osset ian conf l i c t were l i ke ly manufactured and

inaccur ate . This sort of s ituat ion can get even more complicated

when there aren't impartia l journal ists on the ground.

beliefs to be true and filter the news through this lens. Thus, they accept

messages in order to maintain their original perceptions. […] bias in the

local media [...] ser ves as a means to fuel and perpetuate hatred. This is

a role the media has and continues to play with regards to the conflict
