Organic matter participates in translocation of micronutrients from the soil to the plant, enhances water retention, increases seed germination rates and percentages, and stimulates development of micro flora populations in soils. At the same time organic matter provides sorption surfaces for pesticides and other types of xenobiotics compounds.
