WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS
Fifth Sunday of Easter
May 10, 2020
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament everyday 8am-9am in the church
Do not be afraid, I will take care of
things and you will bless My name by humbling yourself. A thousand prayers
cannot equal one single act of surrender, remember this well. There is no novena more effective than this:
“O Jesus, I surrender myself to You, take care of everything!”
Surrender to me does not mean to fret, to be upset, or to lose hope, nor does it mean offering to me a worried prayer
asking me to follow you and change your worry into prayer. It is against this surrender, deeply against it, to worry, to be nervous and to desire to think about
the consequences of anything. It is like the confusion that children feel
when they ask their mother to see to their needs, and then try to take care of those needs for themselves so that their
childlike efforts get in their mother’s way. Surrender means to placidly close the eyes of the soul, to turn away from
thoughts of tribulation and to put yourself in my care, so that I act, saying,
“You take care of it.”

POPE’S FRANCIS Prayer for people
who are infected with COVID-19 or facing quarantine.
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

COVID19 crisis has revealed some of the best things about Americans, but it’s also
unveiled our “shadow side”: our anxie-ties and self-protectiveness, sel ish
hoarding and blame-games.
What are some of the good things that we’ve demonstrated during the COVID19 crisis which help “redeem” this dif icult
moment, pointing us in more positive ways going forward ?
We’ve been mightily impressed by the courage and self-giving of our health
professionals, pastoral workers and oth-ers, caring for the dead, sick or at risk: we should imitate their generosity and support them well in the future. We’ve
witnessed our political, business and la-bor leaders cast aside ideological differ-ences to lead us through these dangers
and keep our polity and economy going: let’s hope that long continues. We’ve seen es-sential service workers stay on the job, others work from home, those out of work
looking out for others. We’ve proven we can adapt: now we’ve learnt how, I suspect Zoom meetings will be much more a part of life going forward. And we’ve found new
places and ways to pray and shre our faith and ideals. While of course much will even-tually return to normal, it will be a new normal, and it will be up to us all to make sure
that new normal is a better normal, more just and compassionate, more hopeful and caring.
