Gartner defines it as:
“A graphical representation that is used to illustrate the milestones and deliverables required to transition to a future state from a current state over a specific period of time”

A SharePoint Roadmap only?• Overlapping activities / initiatives

Step 1: Assemble the Team
WWW.SPBIZCONF.COM
Stakeholder Analysis
• Who needs to deliver outcomes?
• Who owns the resources?

Step 3: Define Future State
• Remember: Future State may contain multiple targets (“simplified infrastructure”, “Employee self-service platform live”, …)
• Align with business goals
WWW.SPBIZCONF.COM
Step 4: Milestones&Deliverables • For each future state target, define
initiatives and corresponding milestones and outcomes– Rationalize if/where necessary
• High-level first, drill down where required
• Iterate often
