Sonen Capital is an impact investment management firm dedicated to providing clients withinvestment solutions that achieve competitive frnancial returns alongside meaningful andmeasurable social and environmental impact. Our clients, as well as the undersignedorganizations and individuals on whose behalf we are writing, are investors in Google andAlphabet Inc.

It was with a mixed reaction that we leamed of Google's commitment to invest in the LakeTurkana Wind Power project in northern Kenya. We stand in staunch support of Google's broadcommitment to address climate change, including its focus on supporting the development ofclean energy infrastructure, its own intemal energy efficiency efforts, and the more than$2billion it has deployed to clean energy projects.

HoWever, addressing climate change must be done with'attentiveness to human rights, respectfor indigenous peoples and in concert with local ecosystem needs. We are deeply concemed byreports of violence, displacement and environmental damage associated with the Lake TurkanaWind Power Project.

With this in mind, we are writing to ask for more information about Google's process forensuring that its energy investments are aligned with the UN Declaration on the Rights ofIndigenous Peoples and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. In particular,we are seeking a deeper understanding of Google's process for ensuring Free, Prior andInformed Consent within indigenous communities impacted by Google's suppliers or by its ownprojects. To provide context for this request, we have enclosed ooA Business Reference Guide tothe United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples" as a reference document.
