Kiowa is located in Pittsburg County on U.S. Highway 69 at its intersection with State Highway 63. The town was founded in 1872 when the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway, known as the "Katy," was extended southward from McAlester, Indian Territory, to Denison, Texas. Kiowa offers suburban living with a rich history and solid steady growth. Kiowa is located near local eateries as well as beautiful parks.

Pittsburgh CountyPittsburg county is rich with historical sites and landmarks. Highway 69 includes stops for golf, casinos, historical sites, parks and shopping centers. The mountainous county provides plenty of sightseeing opportunities for travelers and residents alike.

EconomyKiowa is a bedroom community for the surrounding industries. The most notable are the industries are in McAlester, located 20 miles outside of Kiowa. The top employers are McAlester Ammunition Plant, McAlester Regional Medical Center and McAlester Public Schools.
