The present tense designates action occurring at the time of speaking or writing: Greg works in a bank.

It is used to indicate habitual actions: I eat breakfast at 8:00 am

It is also used to express general truths (Time flies) and scientific knowledge (Light travels faster than sound)

In the positive form add an 's' to the base form of the 3rd person singular. If the verb ends in -y change the -y to -ies.
