(Dismissal on Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday, November 7 is at 1:30 and there is no student attendance on Friday, November 8) Once again, Stanton School will be using Skyward Family Access to schedule Student-led conferences. By using this feature, you will have the opportunity to view your child’s FLEX teacher’s conference schedule, check availability, and sign up for a 20 minute conference. It is very important that each student have a parent/guardian present. If you cannot attend, perhaps you could send another family member, close friend, or other significant person in your child's life. Below are step by step directions for scheduling your student led conference: 1. Visit www.d114.org and select the Skyward Family Access link. 2. Log into Family Access using the username and password. (If you need assistance with accessing the system, please call the school office.) Click the Conferences link located on the left sidebar. 3. Once loaded you will see all of your children’s names. To begin the scheduling process, start with one of your children by selecting the All Conferences link next to their name. 4. Next you will need to click the Select a Time link. A pop up window will appear with all of the available appointment times. Simply click the Select Link next to the appointment time that works for your schedule. 5. Your appointment has not yet been scheduled. A confirmation window will appear. Click the Save Button to confirm your appointment. 6. Once you have saved your appointment, your conference will be scheduled and viewable within Skyward Family Access by selecting the View Scheduled Times link. 7. If you would like to print out your conference time click the link Print All Scheduled Conferences. If you do not have access to the internet, please call your child’s FLEX teacher to schedule your conference. If you would like to schedule a separate conference with your child's social worker please contact Ms.Posey at 847.973.4237 This is a wonderful opportunity for genuine teamwork involving parents, teachers, and students. Dear 5th Grade Parents, An instructor from Robert Crown Center for Health Education will visit Stanton School on Friday, October 4 from 8:45-11:30 a.m. The topics presented are physical development
of males and females with an emphasis on changes that occur at puberty as well as a new social and emotional component. Many of you may remember the “Linda” and “Michael” programs from previous years. This year, the program has been updated and replaced with the “Puberty 1” program. Boys and girls will be separated but will learn the same content. The new program is delivered using a storytelling approach to increase engagement and retention. Fifth graders across the area have been learning about puberty from the Robert Crown Center for over 20 years. The students, staff, and parents from surrounding school districts have been impressed with the appropriateness and thorough treatment of the subject in these professional presentations. The Robert Crown Center for Health Education has visited Stanton School the last 4 years and we’ve had very positive feedback. This presentation is free to all 5th graders. If you do not want your student to participate in the Puberty 1 program, please complete and return the opt out form below by Thursday, October 3. If you have any concerns or questions feel free to call me at 847-973-4246. Thank you in advance for your support in the continuing education of your son or daughter here at Stanton School. Respectfully, Melissa Jakstas

Stanton’s PE Department is collecting used
gym shoes all year long. Shoes that are still
in wearable condition will be donated to
impoverished countries and shoes that are
not wearable will be recycled. The donation
box is outside the locker rooms.
Stanton’s National Junior Honor Society is collecting used markers.
Last year we collected 3,500 old markers
and kept them out of landfills. The markers we collect are recycled into diesel
fuel.
Any type of markers are accepted! Crayola, Sharpies, Expo, Prismacolor,
Cra-Z-Art, highlighters, and more!
Drop off boxes are near the office at Stanton and Lotus.
