2013-2014 CAREER PEER EDUCATION TEAM
STATISTICS
There are chapters in 52 countries
7,200 bedrooms are given out each night around the world
This saves an estimated $257,000,000 each night.
43 care-mobiles (mobile dental clinic) across 6 countries
For each Happy Meal sold, McDonald’s donates 1 cent. This doesn’t seem like a lot but translates into more than $10,000,000 each year, just from happy meals
The spare change that you put in the donation box at restaurants adds up to more than $28,000,000 each year.
LOCAL HISTORY
In 1981 the Junior Service League of Sioux Falls adopted the Ronald McDonald house as their official project. In 1983 the property was purchased and on December 21, 1983 the first Ronald McDonald House in Sioux Falls was opened, at 2001 South Norton Ave, the 55th in the world.
TODAY
There are two Ronald McDonald Houses in Sioux Falls. An 8 bedroom house near Avera and an 18 bedroom house near Sanford Children’s Hospital. These houses are open to all families whose have children under 21 that are receiving treatment and no one is denied.
December of this year will be the 30th anniversary of the Ronald McDonald house in South Dakota
Every year SDSU and NDSU compete for a pop tab traveling trophy to see who can collect the most.
