ITALY – our country• Italy officially the Italian Republic is a country

located in south-central Europe.

• Italy's capital, Rome, was for centuries the political centre of Western civilisation as the capital of the Roman Empire.

• Modern Italy is a democratic republic. It has been ranked the world's twenty third most-developed country.

• The country's European political, social and economic influence make it a major regional power, alongside the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Russia.

• The country has a high public educatio level, high labour force and is a highly globalised nation.

BARI – our city

• Bari is the capital city of the province of Bari and of the Apulia region, on the Adriatic Sea, in Italy.

• It is the second most important economic centre of mainland Southern Italy after Naples, and is well known as a port and university city, as well as the city of Saint Nicholas.

• The city itself has a decreasing population of about 320,000, as of 2009, over 116 km², while the fast-growing urban area counts 653,028 inhabitants over 203 km². Another 500,000 people live in the metropolitan area.

Our school• The International School of Bari was

founded to offer English language education to the children of the international community in the Apulia area.

• The The International School of Bari follows a standard American college preparatory curriculum with additional specialized classes for the Italian State Exams. There is a program of extra-curricular activities including sports, art, music, modern dance, newspaper, yearbook and drama.

• Sixty percent of the student body is from the NATO community while the rest is comprised of local international businesses and nationals. With 14 nationalities represented, ISN offers a very international atmosphere.

Climate in Bari• Bari enjoys a semi-

arid Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm to hot, dry summers. Snowfall in winter is possible.

Autumn and winter in Italy• Autumn and winter are often unsettled

and unpredictable with strong winds and abundant rainfall, coming from Atlantic depressions and it is often overcast. The ocean keeps temperatures mild, and frost and snow are rare (but possilbe).

Spring in Italy

• Spring is usually cool and fairly calm.

Summer in Italy• In summer, it is quite dry and sunny

with only occasional rainfall, temperatures are warm but rarely uncomfortably hot due to the sea's cooling influence during the day.

Czech Republic – our country• The Czech Republik is a landlocked country

in Cenral Europe.

• The country borders Poland to the northeast, Germany to the west and northwest, Austria to the south and Slovakai to the east.

• The Czech Republic has been member of NATO since 1999 and of the European Union since 2004.

• The Czech Republik is a pluralist multi-party parliementary representative democracy.

• Prezident Václav Klaus is the current head of state.

Brno – our city

• Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, located in the southeast of the country.

• It was founded in 1243, although the area had been settled since the 5th century.

• As of December 2009 the population is 405 337.

• Brno is the capital of the South Moravian Region.

Our school

• Our school was build in 1980. It has two floors and ground floor. There are a lot of classrooms.

• We had also labs at school to, chemical and biological laboratory.

• In our school are not any clubs. We have not school orchestra, school choir, school magazine. It is not a tradition in our school.

• Very popular events in our school are sports tournaments.

Spring in Czech Republic

• During March, April and May, the temperature usually increases rapidly, especially during April, when the temperature and weather tends to vary widely during the day.

• Spring is also characterized by high levels in the rivers, due to melting snow with occasional flooding.

Summer in Czech Republic

• In summer, is quite dry and sunny, temperatures are warm.

• The warmest month of the year is July, followed by August and June. On average, summer temperatures are about 20 degrees higher then during winter. Especially in the last decade, temperatures above 30 °C are not unusual.

• Summer is also charakterized by rain and storms.

Autumn in Czech Republic

• Autumn generally begins in September, whitch is still relatively warm and dry. Durig October, temperatures usually fall below 15°C or 10°C and deciduous trees begin to shed their leaves.

• By the end of November, temperatures usually range around the freezing point.

Winter in Czech Republic

• The coldest month is usually January, followed by February and December. During these month, there is usually snow in the mountains and sometimes in the major cities and lowlands.
