RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Facts and Knowlege
What is the respiratory system?
The respiratory system is a body system whose job is to constantly supply the body with oxygen and dispose of carbon dioxide. This constant cycle is achieved by breathing which is the how the respiratory system functions.
Organs of the respiratory system
The path of oxygen
When oxygen enters the nasal cavities (1) it travels farther, and down into the trachea. (2)The trachea then splits, and we are left with bronchial tubes. (3) Each bronchial tube splits into bronchiole which end in thin alveoli sacks. (4) Some what like a tree. The alveoli have thin walls surrounded by capillaries. The oxygen passes into the circulatory system while carbon dioxide is passed into the respiratory system for disposal.

How does the Respiratory system work with
Other systemsThe respiratory system works in tandem with the
circulatory system to deliver oxygen to the blood. However, the respiratory system also works with other systems. It works with the digestive system to provide energy, because the main components are glucose and oxygen. The respiratory system also provides oxygen for brain function. As well as removing carbon waste from almost every other system.
The average human takes 12 to 20 breaths a minute
The first double lung transplant was in 1986 performed by Joel D. Cooper.
The right lung is slightly larger than the left.
Small hairs in the nose clean the air before insertion into the body.
Women have a higher breathing rate than men.
Closing
Throughout each slide we have learned how the respiratory system is needed to function. Death would be imminent without oxygen flow. So we must thank the respiratory system for our daily life on earth.
