The Ancient Jameh Mosque of Qazvin is one of the oldest mosques in Iran, and is the grand, congregational mosque (the site of Friday prayer services, Jameh) of Qazvin city, in Qazvin Province

Se spune că partea cea mai veche a fost construită din ordinul lui Harun al-Rashid în anul 807 d.Hr. Ulterior a fost extinsă, ultimele lucrări fiind făcute la sfârşitul epocii safavide.

The oldest part of the mosque is said to have been constructed by the orders of Harun al-Rashid in 807CE. Later additions were made, the last being during the late Safavid era (The Safavids ruled from 1501 to 1722).

Piatra de temelie a moscheei a fost pusă deasupra unui Templu Zoroastrian al focului. În ciuda devastatoarei invazii mongole, moscheea dăinuie şi este folosită şi azi. O parte din moschee a fost transformată în bibliotecă publică.

The foundation of the mosque is laid on a Zoroastrian fire temple. In spite of the devastating Mongol invasion, the mosque still stands today in its full glory. It is still in use. Parts of the mosque have been turned into a public library.(The masjid jami', or "congregational mosque" is the centre of community worship and the site of Friday prayer services)
