Product Upgrade Tool
• The Product Upgrade Tool (PUT) enables Cisco Partners to electronically order Application Software upgrades based on contractual agreement.
• The pre-requisites to get upgrade entitlements are:
• Software License - A valid software license has been purchased from Cisco or an authorized Cisco reseller for each software application update to be ordered through the PUT. Software licenses are not transferable.
• Service Agreement - Customers ordering a software update from Cisco must have a valid service agreement like SASU or ESW / UCSS or SWSS etc.
• Eligible user types are - Distributer, Retailer, End User, PICA.

Navigation to PUT via Cisco Software Central
Partners can access the Product Upgrade Tool (PUT) from the Cisco
Software Central. Click Upgrade and Update, Click the Software
Upgrade (PUT) link.

CCW homepage. Click Software Upgrade (PUT). Click the
Software Upgrade (PUT) link.

Navigation to PUT via Cisco Login Page
Partners can access the Product Upgrade Tool (PUT) from the
Cisco Login page. Enter your User name and password to be
taken to Software Upgrade (PUT) home page.

In this section, we will access PUT and complete the Profile Manager for your organization information.

From the PUT home page, you can choose either Guided or
Advanced to process your upgrade. enter the contract number
in the Contract Number field and select Advanced if you know
the SKU you wish to upgrade. To proceed, click the Continue
button.

If a contract is not associated with the customer profile, a
warning message displays a link to the Profile Manager where
you will update your organization profile.

How to Use PUT From the Profile Manager page, click the Organization tab
and enter select your Job Role, Job Title, and Job Lever from
the drop-down menus. Click the Submit button.

Once your information has been updated, select the Additional
Access tab.

From the Product Upgrade homepage, enter the contract
number in the Contract Number field and select Guided. To
proceed, click Continue button.

On the Guided Method page, the Upgrade Selection tab
appears by default. The Product Group displays the SKU
grouping. Select the Product Group.

Selecting the Product Group, prompts you to select the Product
Option, Current Version, and Upgrade Version. Choose your
selections and click the Continue button to proceed.

The Upgrade SKU tab appears displaying a list of Upgrade
SKUs based on the options you selected. Click the Continue
button.
You can click the Add Another Upgrade button if you want to
add another Upgrade SKU.

• If available, click the link to view if you are being shipped
media or license or both.
• Select how many licenses you will need in the License Key
Requested column. You can select Single pack for all licenses or
Multiple for one pack each license.
• Select either Physical or eDelivery for the Delivery Option.
Some products are not available for eDelivery.
• Select the Quantity of products.
Choose your selections and click the Continue button to proceed.
If you select the Advanced option on the PUT Home Page, the Upgrade
Summary appears by default displaying all available Upgrade SKUs

Site Id or the two mandatory fields of Country and Customer Company

and click the Agree button if you agree with the rules.

The Review and Submit tab appears displaying the details of
your upgrade. Review the details and click the Edit link if
changes are required.

When you finish reviewing your software upgrade order details,
click the Submit Order button to submit your order.

your Order ID number for your reference.
You can click the New Request link to start another software
upgrade request.

In this section, we will access PUT via CCW and select the Advance Option to place order.

From the PUT home page, enter the contract number in the
Contract Number field. PUT will auto-suggest contract
numbers based on the contracts in your profile. Next, if you
know the SKU you wish to upgrade, select the Advanced
option.

Advance Option
• If available, click the i link to view if you are being shipped media
or license or both.
• Select how many licenses you will need in the License Key

If quantity ordered is more than the “Eligible Orderable
Quantity” then an error message is generated advising on
options on how to proceed.

Key Features
• New page for you to place Manual Upgrade Order request:
• You will have to enter valid contract number against which upgrade is being requested.
• You can enter the exact upgrade product that will be validated or specify the description for the upgrade request.
• You can specify Physical or eDelivery as your delivery preference.
• The Form will validate your entered quantity against Maximum Orderable Quantity.
• You can select Shipping Address and enter order details. This is the same page as for Ordering.
• All details entered will be captured in an email and sent to a Customer Support agent for processing.
• Customer Support validates the contract and your entitlement and books the order.

Manual Upgrade Request Template
If you face issues with PUT, such as an upgrade entitlement
failures under contract or unable to create an Upgrade Order,
click the PUT Support – Contact Info link.

Manual Upgrade Request Template
The Manual Upgrade Request Template allows you to submit a
request for a manual upgrade order. From the PUT Support –
Contact Info page, click the Manual Upgrade Request
Template link.

Manual Upgrade Request Template
From the Manual Upgrade page, the Upgrade Information tab
appears by default. You will:
• Enter the Contract Number. This is a required field.
• Select either Physical or eDelivery for the Delivery Method.
• If you know the Upgrade SKU, enter the SKU in the Upgrade
Product column, else,
• Enter the current software you have or a description and the
version along with the upgrade version you need in the Current
Product with upgrade version.
• Enter any other information you want to provide in the Additional
Notes column.

Scroll over and enter the quantity in the Quantity field. Click the
Continue button to process the order and shipping details.

Under the Shipping Address tab, enter the order and
shipping details. You will follow the current process for
completing Order shipping information and contact
information. You must enter the correct contact information so
Customer Service can reach you, if needed.
Note: The Shipping Address tab is explained in the PUT
Software Upgrade Order End-to-End Flow section in this
guide.

If you enter an invalid Upgrade SKU, a warning message will
appear. Click the Close button to enter the correct SKU.

• New Party UI –: An interface that provides you with the flexibility to search, create and store customer addresses into favorites.
• Search for customer address from Customer Registry in Shipping Details tab
- - Mandatory search criteria: Name of company & Country
- - Partial search criteria: Site ID & Customer name
• Create new customer address in Shipping Details tab
• Create new contact details for customers in Shipping Details tab
• Save customer address as Favorites in Shipping Details tab
• Product Number in the Upgrade Summary tab now has a Information icon with pop up giving additional information on product being shipped

Key Features
• User friendly error messages: The error messages displayed will tell you the exact cause of the error.
• Error Code: The error messages will have a specific error code that can be used as reference when reporting issues to Customer Service.
• Suggested action to take: The error message will provide the action you need to take, including directional URL if you need to go to some specific page or send an email.

button, if the Contract is not Active, the Error message appears
displaying the error code and the suggested action you should
take. The error code is “105” and the suggested action is
contact “Customer Service.”
