NOMINATING  &  LEADERSHIP  DEVELOPMENT  COMMITTEE   (NLDC)

WHAT  IS  THE  NLDC?

The NLDC is an elected committee of seven members who are charged with screening and evaluating individuals and nominating candidates for such National PTA leadership positions as president-elect, vice-president for advocacy, vice-president for membership, secretary-treasurer, member representatives to the Board of Directors and members to the NLDC itself.

WHAT  DOES  THIS  COMMITTEE  DO?

The NLDC solicits and reviews candidates for National PTA leadership positions. These positions include: Officers, Board of Directors, NLDC and committees. Depending on the leadership position, candidates are either elected by the PTA membership, or appointed by the National PTA President.

WHERE  DOES  THE  NLDC  GET  SUGGESTIONS  FOR  CANDIDATES?

The NLDC is open to receiving applications from interested candidates and also welcomes recommendations from PTA’s membership. As part of their role, members of the NLDC also attend conferences, trainings and meetings at the national and state level to take suggestions and observe PTA members in action.

WHAT  IS  THE  NLDC  LOOKING  FOR  AND  HOW  DOES  IT  DECIDE  WHOM  TO  NOMINATE?

The NLDC identifies characteristics and skill sets needed in the leadership of National PTA to accomplish the strategic plan and then reviews candidates to determine if there is a “match” to these needs. In the final stages of the process, interviews are conducted with candidates.

WHO  SERVES  ON  THE  NLDC?

The elected members of the NLDC represent a diverse cross-section of PTA, including geographic representation. Each member serves a 3-year term and is unable to serve simultaneously in any other position within the National PTA governance structure.

I’M  INTERESTED,  WHAT  SHOULD  I  DO  NEXT?

Complete the attached Interest Form and mail it to the National PTA NLDC (address  on  this  form). You can also send an email to: leadershipdevelopment@pta.org.

Additional information is available at PTA.org/NLDC.
