ospreys became

extinct

in Scotland

RSPB's work in Scotland toprotect the ospreys from themany dangers they face isongoing, with each new chickneeding careful monitoringand protection.

This stunning bird of prey is an 'AmberList' species, which means it hasexperienced historical decline. This is due to illegal killing, and lowbreeding numbers).

RSPB's online 'osprey blog' is incredible - thousands of us are gripped by the birds' stories every year as we watch

tagged birds carry out their epic migrations to Africa.

We can only be a part of these amazing journeys thanks to the satellite tracking of Loch Garten's osprey chicks

each year by RSPB.

There is still so much we don’t know about these amazing birds.

Do birds fly over mountain ranges?

This year, the team plan to fit another two satellite tags on chicks leaving the nest.

This will help enable RSPB's ongoing work to track and understand the birds' journeys, answering many of our questions and helping safeguard the future of these magnificent

creatures in Scotland.

We need to raise funds to enable our osprey tagging to proceed.

Think ospreys are as special as we do?

Please donate if you can to help RSPB purchase two satellite tags this year.
