PROJECT GOING HOME
Project Going Home assists families, youth and adults currently residing in the Toronto shelter system, to reconnect with family and friends in their community or country of origin.
How it works...1 We help families and/or individuals
16 years of age or older.
2 Our process takes on average 1 to 3 business days within Canada and 2 to 6 weeks for overseas travel.
3 All clients must have a verified/approved contact in their destination community.
4 Clients are escorted to their point of departure.
5 Identification is required for international travel.
6 Interpreters are available as required.
7 Follow-up support is provided for six months after the travel.
Please note:
• We cannot provide same day service and travel is not guaranteed.
• Transportation is one-way only and non-refundable.
• We cannot send people to another shelter.
• Clients who are not eligible for travel assistance are provided appropriate referrals.
“ Thank you. You made the impossible happen. My two children and I are with family again.” Shannon, 36
“I’m so happy to be home!” Ashley, 17
