Our Vision

Since 2004, one of the main objectives of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan has been to broaden our global outlook. In 2009, therefore, the Secondary School Exchange International (SSEI) Program was launched as part of our policy for "Expanding Our Worldwide Vision".

SSEI program, aimed at developing an international approach to secondary school education, was funded by MOE with the singular purpose of diversifying learning opportunities, by doing so, helping our young people cross the boundaries of space and time to grasp the role of Taiwan on both the Asia-Pacific and world stages, as well as providing a means of contributing to the advancement of human endeavor.

Our Purpose

SSEI has been established to provide a mutually beneficial (win-win) international learning environment.

It not only allows Taiwan students the opportunity of an international educational experience, but also invites students from all over the world to come into contact with life and culture in Taiwan.

In the global village of the 21st century, with its increasing trend towards international competitiveness, this program seeks to cultivate multi-cultural, multi-national thinking and interaction between Taiwan secondary schools and their partner schools across the world.

What is SSEI﹖ SSEI is comprised of two programs:

The Host Family Program For international students

considering coming to Taiwan for educational purposes, Taiwan's MOE is cooperating with the Rotary International District 3480 for its "Warm Family-Host Taiwan Program".

By living with a host family during their stay in Taiwan, international students will gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture and customs, as well as saving on their living costs. Students participating in the "Visit/Study program" and the "Volunteer program" will preferably be placed with a host family.
