Grameen phone ,widely known as gp,is the leading telecommunication service provider in bd.

It is a joint venture enterprize between Telenor and grameen telecom corporation,a non profit sister

concern of internationally acclaimed microfinance organization and community development

bank,Grameen bank

Telenor owns 55.8%,grameen telecom 34.2% and 10% publicly held

Gp initiated its journey at the year of 1996

Idea of initiating gp mobile services 1st conceived by Iqbal Quadir,

The main objective of grameenphone from it’s very beginning is to connect people all over the country including the people in remote and rural areas. Besides connecting people it also has some visions, goals, initiatives and focus areas as a part of csr.

Scholarship: GP takes grameen shikka scholarship management for underprivileged meritorious studentsAlokdeep: non-formal school cum cyclone shelters when natural calamities strikes, it otherwise willact as a place to provide non-formal primary education.

Review

Some criticize csr because:

Business are owned by their shareholders-money spent on csr by managers is theft of the rightful property of the owners.

some company is too busy surviving hard times to do this ,they cann’t afford csr.

Some say that it’s the responsibility of the politicians.it’s not corporate concern.

Corporations don’t care –they’re just out to screw the poor and the environment to maximize their profit.

Some corporations don’t consider csr as wast their time

Recommendation for better services

oMaximizing the customers satisfaction must be taken as 1st priority.

oAfter achieving customers satisfaction gp should try for betterment of society with their existing social project and upcoming project.

oGp also has to ensure their employees’ rights.

oHas to cope with changes and update their services.

oGP should make their current social project and more effective by regular supervising.

Conclusion

We all hope that gp will remain close to the people in upcoming years as it motto says.

But it should run it’s business and other activities like csr maintaining the country’s all laws,rules,regulations and procedures.

oIt also has to ensure accountability through audit and others accountability programmes.
